If we love things, we become a thing. If we love nothing, we become nothing. Imitation is not a literal mimicking of Christ, rather it means becoming the image of the beloved, an image disclosed through transformation. This means we are to become vessels of God´s compassionate love for others.

Good morning and Happy Feast of St. Clare, whom my oldest is named after. 'Tis a rainy one here in New England and it's predicted we'll get about an inch of rain today. At least it's not snow. It won't be long before a precipitation like today translates to 6 to 12 inches of The White Stuff.

I went to 7:30 Mass and for a quick egg sandwich afterwards. We were surprised to see our pastor at Mass this morning because he's supposed to be on vacation this week. Claire Bear has the day off to spend with her four sibs. Since they have an adult with them, I drove down to the office. I listened to more of my audiobook, "Seveneves" along the way. I've got about six hours to go with this 32 hour "audio tome". With the constant steady rain, it was not a top-down commute, but a wipers-on commute. Still... it's been a nice summer overall and I can't complain. At least the lawns didn't burn out this summer.

I've got a writeup to work on this morning and two long meetings after lunch. If all goes well, the bulk of this rain will be mostly out of New England by the time I head home.
